If you happened to take a stroll down the halls of St. Louis School the week of February 26 to March 2 you would have been transported to the world of Dr. Seuss. Each classroom door was decorated in a theme from one of the Dr. Seuss’ books. It is “Read Across America” week!… and St. Louis has chosen Dr. Seuss as the author we are celebrating. Dr. Seuss’ birthday falls during this festive week. Both silent and read aloud times, games and activities to encourage reading were scheduled for each class during the week. What a way to light up dreary winter days!
Social Media: Your Child’s Digital Tatoo
Wednesday, March 7, Stephen Smith, President of “A Wired Family LLC”, will give a presentation covering the basics of which a parent should be aware concerning social media. Topics such as inappropriate online behavior, bullying and its impact on mental health and how students can help control these trends. We hope you will take advantage of this free, informative meeting.
St. Louis School will conduct the IOWA Testing the weeks of March 5 and March 20. We ask that all parents will make every effort to assure your child is in attendance on those days. Be sure your children gets plenty of sleep and are fortified with a good breakfast each morning. Thanks for your support.
Second Graders and our PSR students will be receiving their First Holy Communion very soon. Parents and First Communicants will attend a “Day of Reflection” on March 18.
Stations of the Cross
All students will attend the Stations of the Cross on Tuesday, March 27, at 2:15 p.m. as part of our Holy Week observance. Contemplation of the sacrifices made by Christ for our salvation prepares us for His glorious resurrection on Easter Sunday. Families and Parishioners are welcome to attend.
Our second boxtop collection is counted, turned in, and a check for $401.60 for our school has been received. As you can see, it doesn’t take much time to help our school. Each boxtop brings in $.10!! Total boxtops collected from school and parish this time: 4,016. The top class this collection was the 7th Grade with 544 boxtops. The second place was the 3rd Grade turning in 519 boxtops. Both classes will receive an Out of Uniform Day. We’d like to thank Viola Frank and Joyce Carter for their super boxtop contributions as well as all the parents and parishioners who have helped with our collections.
PLEASE – KEEP THEM COMING !!
